London Days Out: What Happens on a Wimbledon Tour?
For several years I have been lucky enough to host our Red Letter Days experience at Wimbledon, and I never tire of it. Wimbledon – as a venue and a great sporting event – really can make all of us proud to be British, and everything about this experience shouts quality and a thorough respect for upholding tradition. The 2013 Championship was certainly different, with the loss of so many big names in the early days, the controversial slips on the grass, Marion Bartoli, an endearing new ladies champion, and of course the nation’s joy at the success of Andy Murray winning the Gentlemen’s Singles title yesterday – congratulations to him! It…

Rebecca Romero: A Red Letter Days Exclusive Cycling Experience
As it’s National Bike Week (15th – 23rd June), there’s no better time to tell you about an exclusive cycling experience that happened last week. The sport of cycling has really taken off since the Olympic Games in London last summer and inspired thousands of us to get mobile. Whether that meant hosing down the rusty old two wheels from the back of the garage, or going out and buying a brand spanking new state-of-the-art cycling machine, we all started getting on our bikes. Saturday 8th June 2013 proved to be a very special day for a group of cycling enthusiasts who bought a Red Letter Days exclusive opportunity to ride the…

Out and About: Jess and Rachael are Wildlife Park Keepers for the Day
A few weeks ago, we sent our trusty employees Jess and Rachael to Hertfordshire to become wildlife park keepers for the day. They took some incredible pictures and Jess told us all about what happened… “The day had a glamorous start when we met the first keeper who helped us get stuck in by shovelling peacock and zebra poo – which was hard work but very funny! Next we went to feed the lemurs who were so cute and crawled all over Rachael and I, we didn’t expect them to be so friendly. We also had a short talk on monkeys and got to see a sloth and an armadillo.…

Out and About: David Goes Birds of Prey Handling
David, one of our Corporate Administrators, found himself in the countryside of Kent recently, where he got acquainted with some majestic birds of prey. Here’s his account of a day at Eagle Heights. “My arrival at Eagle Heights was warm and receptive. After a welcoming cup of coffee I met fellow bird handlers for the day and we spent the morning in the centre’s lecture room learning about the biology and history of a variety of birds. We were introduced to falcons, hawks, owls, eagles and vultures and importantly, were shown carefully how to handle the birds, their habits were explained and we learned about the environmental and circumstantial threats…

Out and About: Ghost Hunting Experience in Gloucestershire
“Expect the unexpected” we were told after volunteering as potential ghost busters on a Red Letter Days overnight ghost hunting experience. With a long drive ahead to Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire, we discussed our views on ghost hunting on the way: Ali, a convert already; Issy, not convinced. What could possibly go wrong? Ali takes up the story on arrival: “The gate is padlocked with a four number combination. I try the year, I try the area dialling code, I try my birthday. Nothing happens. We are locked out. How to open the gate that gets you into the mansion grounds? (the first of many questions to present themselves as…

Out and About: Ali’s Trip to Vietnam
We’d like to share something a little bit different with you today. One of our more adventurous colleagues is Ali Pye, who having recently returned from a holiday which saw her travel the length of Vietnam, kindly agreed to share some thoughts and pictures of her amazing trip. It all started at the beginning of the Tết Nguyên Đán national holiday. Take it away Ali… “Red Letter Days is all about doing different, doing wilder, doing more colourfully and essentially just doing (as opposed to talking about doing). Hands up who’s seen the Top Gear Vietnam special where Jeremy Clarkson snuffles as the sun sets into the China Sea from…
