A Day with Mum at Benefit and The York and Albany
With Mother’s Day approaching (Sunday 6th March), I headed on a day out with my mum to enjoy a spot of pampering and some delicious gourmet dining at Benefit and The York and Albany. Find out how we got on during our special day together.
We started our mother and daughter pampering day with a trip to Benefit’s flagship London store, (previously visited by teammates Ciana, Hannah and Vic) to enjoy a spot of indulgence. We were warmly greeted on arrival by a friendly team of make-up artists who were ready and on hand to make my mum and I look pretty. We started the makeover with a Benefit signature brow arch service and eyebrow tint.
With eyebrows perfectly preened, we headed over to the counters to enjoy a makeover with a Benefit make-up artist. With a glass of Moët and Chandon champagne each we had a toast and sat back for a relaxing, stress-free makeover in the safe hands of the professionals.
The make-up artists asked us what look we were going for and what make up products we usually liked, then talked us through each of the products they used, stopping to show us what they had done every so often, to check we liked it.
After the makeover looks were complete, the make-up artists showed us all the products that they had used and pointed out which ones they would recommend us purchasing with our £40 gift vouchers. Their advice was helpful and, of course, we ended up with a few extra products more than our allocation, but the transformations were so good, we couldn’t resist!
After a couple of hours of pampering and feeling made up for our gourmet lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s York and Albany restaurant in Regent’s Park, we headed on the tube to Camden Town and walked to the restaurant located on the edge of Regent’s Park. We arrived ahead of schedule but the restaurant’s staff seated us anyway and gave us a Bellini each to kick start our tasty gourmet experience.
We each chose meals from the three-course set lunch menu, although we were kindly informed that if the options available on the set lunch were not anything we fancied, we could have £30 per person to spend on other dishes from the a la carte menu.
I went for the chicken liver parfait with brioche to start, venison ragu with pappardelle pasta for main and the clementine posset with passion fruit ice tea to finish the meal off. My mum had the same as me, besides trying the BBQ mackerel and cous cous for starter.
My mum and I had a wonderful day at Benefit and the York and Albany and we both left the experiences feeling relaxed, pampered and very stuffed! My mum said at the end of the day she was left “feeling revitalised and more youthful.” She particularly enjoyed the lunch as “Usually it is a grab and go lunch but it was nice to enjoy a civilized sit down meal!”
