This year, lockdown restrictions have made spending time with our mums more difficult than ever. So it has never been more important to show our mums how much we love them on Mother’s Day.
Here are some thoughtful gift ideas that your mum is sure to love. They can’t help ease the lockdown restrictions any faster, but they can definitely show your mum just how much you care and that you’re thinking of her.
1. The gift of time
This Mother’s Day, we’ve teamed up with Family Action to reclaim 100,000 hours of ‘mumpaid labour’ before Sunday 14th March. Mums and parents have done more than their fair share of hard work this year, so we’re encouraging families across the UK to pledge to take something off of mum’s plate this Mother’s Day. Give your mum the gift of time by sharing the load and helping her out. She can use the time she gains to do something she loves! Find out more about our campaign and pledge to give your mum the gift of time here.
2. Our ‘Especially for Her’ gift box
Making memories over accruing stuff is at the core of what we do. After a year when opportunities to make memories have been few and far between, it’s the perfect time to treat your mum to the gift of an unforgettable day out. Our ‘Especially for Her’ gift box will allow her to choose from over 2810 experiences across the UK. The voucher is valid for 24 months, so there’ll be plenty of time for her to book the experience she fancies once we’re out of lockdown.
Not only this, but 20% of the profits from the sale of our ‘Especially for Her’ gift box will go to Family Action when purchased between 1st and 14th March. So you can treat mum whilst supporting struggling families across the UK, too.
3. Afternoon tea at home
Unfortunately we can’t go out for a traditional afternoon tea during lockdown. But why not take the treats straight to your mum? Surprise her with a gorgeous afternoon tea delivered to her door. This box has been specially created for one person, so she won’t need to share! The box includes scrumptious goodies like a Scotch egg, mini sausage rolls and tasty ham hock and cheddar tart. Not forgetting the devilish sweet treats like classic scones with clotted cream and jam, assorted cakes and a steaming mug of teapigs tea to wash it all down with.
4. A luxury food and wine hamper
Everyone loves a hamper full of artisan treats. Who said hampers are just for Christmas?! If your mum is a fan of the finer things in life, treat her to a special hamper featuring a bottle of Merlot, delicious chocolates, oat crumble biscuits, sun-dried tomato breadsticks, chocolate and caramel flavoured fudge and a whole lot more. This delightful selection of treats is the perfect way to show a foodie mum that you appreciate everything she has done for you this year.
5. Online truffle making
Just because we’re locked down, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy new experiences and learn new things! If your mum is an aspiring chocolatier, treat her to this fun and interactive online workshop. A talented expert will demonstrate how to make delicious cream truffles. Your mum will learn the tips and tricks of the trade, including how to mix ganache perfectly, pipe chocolate and create a mouth-watering flavour for the finishing product. This is a great gift for mums with a sweet tooth, as your mum can enjoy her handiwork afterwards, knowing her chocolates have been crafted by hand from fresh ingredients.
6. A pamper session
Encourage your mum to switch off and revitalise this Mother’s Day with a pamper package for one. Complete with a variety of treatments that target different skin woes, this kit will enable your mum to enjoy up to 90 facial treatments from the warmth and comfort of home. From the anti-aging magic of the 24K Gold Facial Treatment peel-off mask, to the blemish busting Ultra-Deep Cleansing Clay Facial Treatment with Dead Sea mud, spoil mum and her skin this Mother’s Day with these best-selling treatments.
7. An aromatherapy candle, perfume and body oil kit
Seeing as we can’t go out this Mother’s Day, bring some fun and creativity to your mum! This exciting DIY aromatherapy kit from Scott’s Apothecary will allow your mum to make two unique aromatherapy soy candles, as well as a delightfully scented body oil and perfume. This creative experience was established by Alice Scott who is dedicated to inspiring others to produce their own bespoke scents, which are designed to calm, relax and invigorate. We could all do with a bit of this at the moment! Treat your mum to the joy of learning a new skill by sending her the tools to make hand-crafted beauty items and candles at home.
8. The opportunity to bake with a Bake Off legend
One for the bakers and Bake Off fans! This once-in-a-lifetime experience allows your mum to bake along online with a talented former Bake Off contestant. The interactive online masterclass is suitable for the whole family, meaning the entire household can join in with this exciting 90 minute session hosted by a Bake Off legend. Your mum will receive a checklist of equipment and the all-important recipe before the session, choosing from a list of recipes or suggesting a personal favourite. She’ll be able to ask the Bake Off star any burning baking questions she’s been dying to ask, as they whip up a delicious storm together from her very own kitchen. It’s sure to be a showstopper of an experience for any mum who loves to bake!
9. Sign her up for a free virtual class or talk at our Time For Mum Virtual Festival
A brilliant way to treat your mum is to make sure she takes the time to do something she loves this Mother’s Day. That’s why we’re hosting a series of fun, free, virtual events for mums to enjoy on Saturday 13th March – including an exclusive Q&A with Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson and endorphin-boosting fitness classes with Frame.
