Four Fantastic Road Trip Movies
Summer is in full swing – and that means it’s time to get outside, soak up some sun and go on an adventure.
To help get you into that summer spirit, here are four road trip movies you must watch…
Rain Man (1988)
Starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, this touching flick tells the tale of selfish yuppie Charlie Babbit, as he takes his autistic brother Raymond across country in pursuit of the family fortune. Raymond doesn’t like flying, but (according to him), he’s an ‘excellent driver’.
Dumb and Dumber (1994)
Two kind-hearted but incredibly stupid friends take a road trip to Aspen to deliver a suitcase full of money to a woman named Mary Swanson and find themselves in deep trouble. The only thing is, they’re too dumb to realise it! Arguably Jim Carey’s and Jeff Daniels’ most hilarious performance to date.
Sideways (2004)
Whether you’re into wine tasting or not, it’s hard not to get engrossed in this road trip movie. Two struggling middle-aged men embark on a bonding journey through California’s wine country just before one of them gets married – and things get complicated.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
This heart-warming and often hilarious road trip movie is a real gem, and it features a young Abigail Breslin. After their daughter reaches the final of the ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ beauty pageant, the whole Hoover family pile into their VW camper van and drive from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach, to get Olive there in time for the show.
