Afternoon tea is a great thing to have on a special day out – delicious, indulgent. relaxing and loads of fun, it could be with a group of friends, on a romantic date or the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

The Classic

It’s hard to beat a classic and part of the attraction of afternoon tea is it’s deep root in British tradition. Finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with cream and jam, sweet treats and a drop of tea are sometimes all you need for an afternoon of delicious decadence.

Afternoon tea is all about atmosphere and taking tea with a gorgeous view makes it taste even better. Find somewhere that has something nice to look at while you dine – whether it’s a beautiful cityscape or a fragrant English garden, it will definitely make your tea tastier.



Kitsch cakes, crazy coloured bread and quirky crockery – try tea with a theme if you are bored with the usual spread of tend to stray from the norm. They come in all shapes and forms – why not try a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party or a Gentlemen’s Tea?



The easiest way to make a treat more luxurious – just add alcohol! It might be a glass of bubbly, or maybe a classic gin cocktail – whatever takes your fancy! The fact that it’s the afternoon makes a cheeky tipple taste even better.



This is a totally different way to take tea and definitely strays from tradition! Ideal on a sunny afternoon, bring a picnic hamper filled with all that’s needed for an afternoon tea. Make dainty cucumber sandwiches at home and bring along some sweet treats, scones, jam and cutlery as well as a thermos of tea. The location is up to you!
