Willow Foundation 10K Run – Get Involved!

Our chosen charity the Willow Foundation will shortly be celebrating giving a 10,000th special day to fulfil a wish of someone who is seriously ill.

In the run up (sorry, couldn’t resist!) to their annual fund-raising 10k around Hatfield House, here’s a little post to get us in the mood…

Why not join some of the Red Letter Days staff who have been getting fit in recent weeks, in order to run or walk 10 kilometres on behalf of Willow Foundation? In addition to our top running playlist, to help spur everyone along, we’ve been taking notes from some of our favourite running themed video clips…

The Inspiration

Run Forrest, run!  He melted hearts in 1994 with the film Forrest Gump, proving our hopes that the good guy will always win through. And boy, could he run!

How not to do it

We can’t say the same for the hapless Dennis in the flick Run Fatboy Run. As this clip shows, his first run doesn’t show the kind of commitment needed in order to win back his ex fiancee. We won’t spoil the ending for you…

Run for your life!

In 1981, a very young Harrison Ford took on the role of Indiana Jones in the first of a series of films. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark remains one of the highest grossing films of all time and this clip perfectly illustrates how to get away from a boulder.

Don’t try this at home…

Parkour, freerunning, FreeG – these are just a few of the names used for the freestyle activity which fuses running, gymnastics, martial arts and free movement, around which a whole subculture has emerged in recent years.

Very best of luck to the hundreds of runners who’ll be turning out on the morning of Sunday 6 October, will you be there? We’d love to hear your stories of any charity feats.
