Q&A with Joanne Bean: Our #Halloscream Competition Winner

Last Halloween, we launched a spine-chilling competition named #Halloscream, in which entrants had to tweet us their scariest pic for a chance to win the grand prize of A One Night Weekend Hotel Escape for Two. We caught up with our lucky winner Joanne Bean to see how she found the whole experience…

How did it feel to win the competition?

The competition was called #Halloscream and I think I may have let out a little scream when I saw my name on your page as the winner! To say I got a shock (in more sense than one) when I saw my photo on your page is an understatement. Once the screaming had stopped, I proceeded to ring everybody in my phone book to tell them what I had won – I was thrilled!

Were you excited to receive your prize and how did you find picking your venue?

I was very impressed with the quality and appearance of the package I received in the post and booking up the experience was very quick, simple and straight forward – which is always good!

Did you enjoy your short break and are you happy with the choice you made?

Moor Hall was fabulous! We’ve actually been lucky enough to stay there in the past, so I knew the hotel and was thrilled when I saw it on your list of options. Location, quality, cleanliness, service etc. all top notch, especially the food which is to die for! So, overall I’d say it was a brilliant experience and I’ve already decided that I’ll be purchasing the same one for my mum as a Mother’s Day gift.

That’s great! During your stay, did you find plenty of things to do in the local area?

On the first afternoon of our stay we made use of the spa facilities at the hotel and spent a relaxing time in the swimming pool and sauna. The next day we spent several hours exploring Sutton Park, which is home to 2000 acres of lakes, woodlands and heath. It’s really beautiful and just a short walk from the hotel.

And last but certainly not least; are there any other Red Letter Days experiences you’d like to try?

This was my first Red Letter Days experience, but it certainly won’t be my last! I’ve been looking at your gift experiences for couples so maybe a nice romantic Valentine’s break will be on the cards next – I’ll be leaving the web page open on my partner’s iPad (hint, hint!).

The Overnight Ghost Hunt, the Theatre Breaks and even the Tandem Skydive all quite take my fancy too! There is such a great variety of experiences it’s hard to choose what to go for first!

Thank you for talking to us Joanne, it’s been a pleasure!

If you enjoyed this interview, keep an eye out for our next review from Jimmy White’s biggest fan, Ian Alley. He’ll be telling us all about his day with The Whirlwind – coming soon!
