Frighteningly Good Zombie Flicks

The flesh-eating  zombie has thrilled, excited and terrified cinema-going audiences since George A Romero’s 1968 film, Night of the Living Dead…

We all know that during winter one of the best things you can do is enjoy a movie marathon, and if you’re looking for excitement, a zombie experience is perfect. You can also read our interview with zombie bootcamp to find out some more about it.

So without further ado, here’s a quick rundown of our top three zombie flicks (aside from Night of the Living Dead, of course)…

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

This action-packed film is arguably one of Simon Pegg’s best pieces of work and is considered by many to be somewhat of a ‘zom-rom-com’.

Initially, slack Shaun is so hurt by being dumped by his girlfriend that he fails to notice that north London is under zombie attack, but once he does, the gore and gags come thick and fast.

Fido (2006)

This quirky film offers a completely different take on the world of the living dead.

Described by critics as a cross between Lassie and Night of the Living Dead, Fido is based on the life of an obedient zombie pet played by Billy Connelly -everything is fine and dandy until one day, when he eats the next door neighbour…

Zombieland (2009)

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenburg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin star in this high-octane zombie survival flick which is packed full of memorable moments from start to finish.

In search of civilisation, solace – and Twinkies – this unlikely gang drive across the United States while slaying the undead and to top it off, there’s even a cameo from Bill Murray.
