Eat, Shop, Skate: A Quick Guide to Winter Wonderland 2013
One of London’s major annual Christmas attractions is Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland.
Opening on Saturday 23rd November for another stint of festive fun, this exciting mix of food stalls, markets, entertainment and attractions will see people from all over the country flood through the gates.
Don’t miss out: read on for our quick guide to London’s most Christmassy event.
When it comes to hearty hog roasts and fish and chips, or traditional Gluvine and Bratwurst, you’re spoiled for choice around here.
Look out for The Carousel Bar, where you can enjoy a festive tipple and get amazing views of the park while gently spinning 360 degrees (emphasis on the “gently”), and The Famous Bavarian Village, which comes alive with traditional festive cheer and live music.
Winter Wonderland boasts around 200 wooden chalets, all offering a host of festive products including hand crafted ornaments, scarves, hats, jewellery and Christmas decorations.
Whether you’re present shopping for yourself or others, it’s definitely worth taking some time to do a bit of browsing.
Two must see attractions are the giant observation wheel which provides sensational views of the entire park and the illuminated London skyline, and the Lycamobile ice rink.
The rink is situated right next to a pretty Victorian bandstand – a magical setting for a Christmassy skate session – and if you’re feeling chilly after your session, you can always “warm up” with a sneaky glass of mulled wine…
