Ready to fly the Phoenix? The ultimate guide to the new Zip World Tower

We are excited for the launch of Zip World’s brand-new South Wales location called Zip World Tower, to be opened on April 22nd 2021. This new site will be home to Phoenix, the fastest seated zip line in the world and Zip World Tower Coaster (to be opened at a later date), which will be the UK’s and Europe’s only side-by-side karted coaster of its kind.

An introduction to Phoenix, the fastest seated zip line in the world

From April 22nd 2021, you will be able to fly the Phoenix! Designed for adrenaline lovers, this zip line will be the world’s fastest seated zip line and is located right here in Wales in the UK.

On this 4-person zip line, you will be able to whizz through the air at incredible speeds, embarking on two separate zip zones whilst taking in the beautiful Welsh scenery of the Rhigos Mountain range.

This will make for a fantastic experience to enjoy with all the family or group of friends – the only question is, who will dare to fly the Phoenix with you?

Take on the fun Zip World Tower coaster ride

Alongside the Phoenix zip line, there is also the fun coaster ride at Zip World Tower, which is currently in construction due to open later in Spring 2021.

This is the UK’s and Europe’s only side-by-side coaster of its kind! Strapped into the kart, you will embark on an epic journey taking you through the historic and stunning Tower Colliery site. Over a course of one kilometer, this coaster ride is packed with thrilling bends, dips, and steep climbs, but with the twist that how fast you go is all down to you!

You will get two rides with your ticket, so whether you choose to put on the breaks and soak in the scenery or get your speed up for an adrenaline-fueled ride is up to you and your co-rider to decide.

Where is Zip World Tower located?

The new Zip World location called Zip World Tower, is based in South Wales and will be their fourth adventure location filled with new activities to attract adrenaline lovers from afar. Nestled in Cynon Valley, at the heart of the Rhigos Mountain range you will find Zip World Tower located just west of the A4061 highway between the Welsh towns of Hirwaun and Blaenrhondda.

The actual Zip World Tower site will be developed on the historic coal mining site of Tower Colliery (known in Welsh as Glofa’r Tŵr), and hence where Zip World established the name for this site. It is designed to breathe new life into the area after the coal mines closed back in 2008.

Tower Colliery was the oldest working deep coal mine in the UK and was the last of its kind in the South Wales Valleys. Its closure has impacted miners and their families with many continuing to live close by, and so it is hoped Zip World will offer plenty of opportunities for the local community to get involved once again in creating this lasting legacy in a new way whilst utilizing and conserving the site’s rich history.

From when Zip World Tower launches on April 22nd 2021, it will become a tourist adventure destination worldwide. Come and explore the picturesque scenery, whilst having a lot of fun and be challenged to new activities like no other!

Are there any age or health restrictions?

As with all adventure activities there are some age, weight, and health restrictions to be aware of. Anyone unsure should give Zip World a call directly on 01248 601 444, who are always happy to discuss in more detail.

Phoenix Zip Line Restrictions

Age	Minimum age is 7 years Note: Anyone under the age of 17 years must be supervised at all times by an adult
Height	Minimum height 3’11” Maximum height 6’8″
Weight	Minimum weight 4st 10lb Maximum weight 18st 12lb

Zip World Tower Coaster Restrictions

Age	Minimum age is 9 years Note: Children between the ages of 4-8 years are able to go on the ride with an accompanied adult
Weight	Minimum weight 4st 7lb Maximum weight 18st 9lb

What do I need to wear to take part in the experiences?

Due to the terrain and adventure activities you’ll be doing, it’s recommended to come in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little muddy; and flat comfortable shoes like trainers.

What facilities are there at Zip World Tower?

There are many facilities at Zip World Tower to ensure your visit is a great one including:
